Q: Who qualifies for On-Post Military Housing?

Active Duty service members with dependents who are permanently assigned to Ft Sam Houston. Students will qualify ONLY if assigned for at least 52 weeks, length of time must show on orders. If you are assigned to a Unit located within 50 miles from Ft Sam Houston you can qualify for Military housing under a different category* which would could increase the wait time.

Q: How far in advance can I apply for Military Housing?

You may apply for housing no more than 45 days prior to your report date and you MUST be signed out of your losing installation. Completed applications may be dropped off in person at the housing office, Bldg 367 or faxed in. Please be aware that incomplete application packets will NOT be accepted and will delay placement on the wait list.

Q: How do I apply for Military Housing?

You must submit the following:
1. Application Card
2. Current Orders
3. DA 31- MUST show that you have signed out (Navy page 2, Air Force Stamped Copy of Orders from MPF Check Out)
4. Deers paperwork from AKO or 1172
5. Current LES
6. Copy of Front and Back of Military ID
Other documents that are required if applicable:
1. Pregnancy Statement (at least 6 months pregnant)
2. Custody legal paperwork for any full-time stepchildren (to meet full time status a child or step child must reside with the service member for no less than six consecutive months in a year)

Q: What are the average wait times for housing?

Wait times are estimated. Wait times may change at any time. You may discuss wait times with a Service Manager by contacting the housing office.
